About the Artist
Evelina Lundqvist is an acclaimed Swedish artist, painter and sculptor.
Born in 1989, Evelina’s interest in creating was apparent from her childhood. Whether it was with a pen, a brush, or with tools, she found tremendous joy in making things. While studying under the artist Professor Krassimir Kolev she discovered her desire to steward the gift she’d been given, by becoming an artist.
Evelina moved to the US for further studies, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, in 2013. Her hunger for more artistic knowledge led her to journey further and complete her Master of Arts in Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, England in 2015.
She lived, created, and worked in Sweden until 2022, when her journey led her back to the US, to Louisiana, where she currently lives and creates.
Artist Statement
« Through making the natural fantastical, one can defamiliarize oneself with the world to then rediscover it.
The wind rustling in the leaves, the trickling stream bordered with lush green moss, a songbird taking off towards the sky. With beauty undeniable, the natural world has never lost its magic. I remember so well those summer days running through that flourishing world, letting my imagination run wild, seeing both fairies and angels hidden behind ruff bark. That fantastical world has etched itself so vividly in my mind, and I am reminded of it every time I see their remnants. It might just be a branch on the side of the road, or a hidden glen by a car park that makes my heart flutter like it did back then. And when it does, I find myself like a child with a glass jar, trying to catch the intimate, marvelous moment, that glimpse of enchantment, so that I might show my friends. «
In the Process of Change
staring into the mind’s eye
remembering and forgetting
what was once familiar transforms
into metamorphic nostalgia
the difference is becoming
to this continuously changing world
